The Nels Cline Singers, November 8, 2014 at 9 p.m. Nels Cline, hit guitarist of Wilco, brings his “relentlessly exploratory approach” to free jazz with The Nels Cline Singers. Their recent album Macroscope was named “one of the best jazz releases of the year to date” by Paste magazine. The group skillfully spins washes of complex sounds with interwoven lines between Cline, the bass, drums and electronic instruments; despite the name of the group, singing is not part of the equation. Concerts from the Library of Congress, 2014-2015.
The Singers will be playing at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington DC on November 8 at 9 p.m., an event sponsored by the Library of Congress. Even better, tickets are FREE—you just need to pay a $2 processing fee per ticket.
There was a snafu with making tickets available online this morning, but you can order them now by following the link above or by calling the Atlas box office.
I can’t wait to get the chance to see the Singers one more time this year! They’ll also be playing at Rough Trade in Brooklyn on November 10 and at Firehouse 12 in New Haven, CT, on November 7. Cyro Baptista has another commitment for that weekend but will join them for the Brooklyn show.
